Events in the week of Grace

Chatter! Grace is coming up with great combinations like:
Juuus - peeees - mommy
Up - peeees - mommy
Down - peeeees - daddy
baby - awwww - nite nite (hugging the dolly)
I'm really liking her grasp of the word "please". It works too, that little munchkin gets anything she wants

Cliffhanger episode - because we had to move all the furniture around in the girls' room the armchair is now right next to the dresser. There is no other way. Grace likes things with buttons to press and on the dresser is Adora's CD player. I came in the other day to turn the noise down (like I do about five bazillion times a day), ans as I left I saw Grace make a bee-line for the chair. No doubt to climb up there and turn the volume back up. Anyway, a minute or so later I hear a bloodcurdling scream and enter the room to find Grace had slipped from the arm of the chair and was hanging by her fingertips. Total panic. Her feet were about six inches off the floor, but she sounded like she was about to die. I kind of felt bad for her, but it was more than a little bit funny too.

Abandoned - at the church christmas dinner last night I stuck Graciekins in a high chair to distract her with food while the sunday school kids performed the play. I asked Mike to watch her for just a sec while I went to the ladies room, but got distracted when I got back by taking pictures of my cute little angel up on the stage (see Adora's blog). Anyway, Grace, on the other side of the room was howling a way for who knows how long until someone came and fetched her mother. Oops.

There was the unavoidable oh-hey-what-a-pretty-tree-ornament smashing event. Just now as I was writing that I turned to watch her take a big sip from Adora's canteen, then slowly open her mouth and watch the contents spill out onto her shirt (pajamas I just put on her), repeat, then exclaim 'Mess!" as I took the water bottle away. Sigh.

She's discovered the joy of typing on the keys and pushing around the mouse, which means I can't leave any documents open on the computer or leave my bedroom door open. Just as I typed that, I turned around to see she likes lotion too. Okay, now she's got the bus schedule; I'm good for about 3 minutes of uninterrupted blogging.

Hmmm, she has always loved to adorn herself with necklaces etc, but now adds the word "pretty" to go with the ritual. Well, that's what I remember from the last few days. I'm sure I've forgotten a few good nuggets. The cliffhanger thing was kind of the highlight. Oh yeah I just remembered on thing from after dinner tonight. I was doing the dishes and looked over to see her picking up the peas from under Adora's chair and I automatically said "Grace! don't eat...." but then I saw what she was really doing. The little sweetheart was picking up the peas (and cheerios and other misc. food bits) one by one and putting them up on the table. What a sweet little helper.
